I was born in Taylor, Texas, a small country town east of Austin. My life was hard and full of loss, my mother passed away when I was only 10 years old, and after that I felt very alone and very lost. But my Father, James big and Senior, introduced me to cooking and barbecuing and just flat-out feeding people and preparing great food. As I began to cook, I became happier and filled with life. At that point, I realized eating delicious food not only fed me, but it truly fed my soul. It made me feel whole again. From that day forth I made it my mission to put a smile on the world, one plate, and one face at a time. My journey has allowed me to own a restaurant and a catering company and also win a show on the Food Network. I’m living my dreams and feeding Souls, just like I always wanted to do. But without my dad James Bigon Sr.’s guidance, support and direction, I’m not sure I would be competing and throwing down in Port A today.
